CLASSIC COUNTRY LOAF

INGREDIENTS : 
  • 3 1/2 Cups All purpose flour
  • 2 Tsp Instant yeast
  • 2 Tsp Flaky salt
  • 2 Cups Lukewarm water

PREP : 
  1. Combine, 3 cups of flour, salt and yeast in a bowl.
  2. Add 1 1/2 cup of water to the bowl.
  3. Mix (Dough should be sloppy).
  4. Remove the dough from the bowl onto a floured surface (1/2 cup).
  5. Knead the dough for 10-15 minutes (Stand mixer can also be used).
  6. Form into a ball and put it back in the bowl. Cover with a damp cloth of seal it with plastic wrap.
  7. Let it rise for 3 hours in a warm place.
  8. Preheat the oven to 425 F and heat the dutch oven for 30 minutes.
  9. Take the dough out of the bowl and start kneading. Add flour if too sticky.
  10. Remove dutch oven from the oven and place the dough in it.
  11. Cook for 30 minutes with the lid on.
  12. Cook for 15 minutes without the lid.
  13. Let it cool for 10 minutes on a cooling rack.
  14. Enjoy your beautiful homemade loaf!

FAQ : 
Q : While kneading, my dough started to break into pieces. What should I do?
A : Add a splash of water unitl the dough forms a ball. Add a little bit of water each time to prevent over watering the dough.

Q : Can I speed up the time required to rise the dough?
A : No, you'll want your dough to have the proper amount of time to rise. If you cut in the rising time, your loaf will not rise in the oven.
